BATTLEGRAVE - ENSLAVEMENT

Release Date: April 10,2026 via INDEPENDENT- Conjured in Melbourne, Australian death-thrash project BATTLEGRAVE return with a soon to be self-released third album, Enslavement. Of their growing presence in the aussie metal landscape, the band have been blazing stages in recent years leaving audiences satiated from the live shock and awe. Receiving praise from media and radio outlets both nationally and abroad, the original duo of Rohan Buntine (vocals and lyrics), and Clint Patzel (all strings), are joined by session drummer Robin Stone on this recording. Blending their styles and influences of classic thrash, death, and speed metal, they present an addictively heavy album that develops and reveals more with each punishing rotation.

Propelled by endless crushing complex chord structures, intricate lead breaks, the guitars and bass shred with intensity and cohesion in crisp distortions owing to semblances of Azagthoth-ian enlightenment. Marshalled like a front-line artillery assault, the warring drums grind in a furious array of double-kick ordinance forcing the listener into absorbing constant barrages of cluster bomb snares. Macerations of aggressive screams and coarse growls, the vocal assaults are intimidating, concisely assertive and mixed intelligently into the compositions. Balanced with punchy tones and defined layers, the production honours the band’s sound well without confusing the scope or dynamics.

A concept album as such, we’re pointed with themes of an underworld demon that feasts insatiably on human souls underlined with sinister abstracts painted within the frame of this brutal score. Imbibed with touches of black-metal-like atmospherics, the expressions of the central message aren’t confined by any cliché or trait, remaining articulate and aggressively forthright. With no respite considered, the 10 canons of this metallic subjugation are concluded in slightly over 46 minutes.

‍

Enslavement continues the band's journey of precision and power anchored by their originality, ferocity and conviction. Seemingly, there are notable compliments of Slayer, Death, Carcass, Bloodbath, and Skeletal Remains infused within their foundations. The outcome of this impending slaughter is refreshing and dynamic. Just what the world of thrash and death deserves.

SCORE 9.5/10
